LONELY SONGS WORKSHOP

PHIL OWEN

Sunday 30 May, 2-4pm

Dawe’s Twineworks, West Coker

About a century ago, a group of folklorists travelled through the English countryside, collecting old folk songs from some of the last remaining people who remembered them. Many hundreds of songs were collected in Somerset and Dorset, including in the Cokers.

Join Phil Owen in a special workshop where you will learn a selection of songs from in and around East and West Coker, and find out about the people who sang them.

Phil Owen is a singer and writer from North Somerset. His work is informed by a strong interest in the relationships between voice, heritage and place. With Megan Wakefield, he ran the experimental literary salon Tertulia.
