Are you the last person on earth?
Tourism, escapism and science fiction merge with climate change, in a walk-through video installation. It centres around a full-scale virtual replica of an iconic destination, the Bora Bora island in French Polynesia. The landscape is a composite of satellite maps, scientific illustrations and tourist photographs shared online, as well as drawings by 18th century colonial explorers.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jakob Kudsk Steensen is concerned with how imagination, technology and ecology intertwine. In a practice that emphasizes field work and collaboration, he develops large-scale video and XR installations that invite viewers into new ecological realities.
