Do you still have time for tea?

A tea cosy keeps the contents of a teapot warm. Both functional and decorative, this Victorian art allowed people to chatter for longer during afternoon tea. The invention of the tea bag – providing a single portion for one – changed the way that tea was brewed. Ben Sanderson investigates the social history of the tea cosy and looks forward to a time when we all drink together again.
